15+ years building hardware, software, and IoT products.

15+ years across both consumer and B2B hardware — from Nokia and Philips on the consumer side, to building the product management function at Sauermann, an industrial B2B company. I build and transform product organisations for hardware and IoT companies — from early‑stage innovation to scaled global portfolios. Below is a closer look at three companies, three industries, and the specific work and results behind each.

Sauermann group (2019 - 2025)

Built and led a 3-person Product Management organisation at Sauermann, an HVACR / indoor air quality hardware company — taking the team from an operational, sales-driven background to a strategic, market-facing function.

What I did:

  • Defined a 5-year roadmap spanning hardware and the software/app ecosystem
  • Simplified the portfolio: reduced 2,000+ SKUs to under 150 core products through market segmentation across 5 target applications
  • Value-based pricing aligned to user value and regional competitiveness
  • Make-or-buy assessments and supplier evaluations to optimise cost, quality, and lead times
  • Established core PM processes: value proposition definitions, PRDs, stage-gate governance
  • Supported sales teams with technical training and product positioning

Result: A leaner, clearer portfolio and a product organisation operating with strategic rigour.

Philips Lighting / Signify (2013–2019)

Led the global Philips Hue White category — hardware, software, and the connected ecosystem — from concept to a scaled, profitable business line.

What I did:

  • Created the category from scratch: positioning ("Feel Secure"), products, and marketing message
  • Defined the 5-year product and claims roadmap, generating insights and validating new value propositions
  • Owned technical specifications, new product introductions, and lifecycle management
  • Drove market expansion and channel strategy globally
  • Partnerships to grow sales: Hue white included in Amazon Echo Plus launch
  • Led repositioning of all categories within Philips Hue, aligning with Philips brand
  • Products launched: A19 / A60, BR30, E14, PAR38, GU10

Result: Created a new category in a venture environment within a multinational company, scaling and growing quickly, learning to adapt processes to the speed of a start-up environment. #1 Best seller in Amazon US Light bulbs category and a 4.3/5 average customer rating on Amazon.

Nokia (2007–2012)

Began my product management career at Nokia through a highly competitive global apprenticeship — 11 selected from over 1,300 candidates — with rotations across Copenhagen, Beijing, and London.

What I did:

  • Successfully led product development from concept to sales start for Nokia T7, the first in-house smartphone with TD-SCDMA. Strategically important device for Nokia for the Chinese market. Technology choices impacted product portfolio.
  • Owned value proposition, technical specification, pricing, and sales forecasting for focus-market devices
  • Managed complex cross-functional hardware/software innovation programs for smartphones
  • Re-prioritised R&D strategy to better align with user and business needs
  • Operator exclusive variants of Nokia 2630 & 2760.
  • Drove concept development of a mid-range feature phone, leading a new UI.

Result: A foundation in product management built across the full lifecycle — from roadmap and early-stage innovation concepts to a market-critical device launch — inside one of the most demanding consumer electronics environments of its time.

Nokia

  • Full product lifecycle foundation
  • Processes
  • Global experience: Denmark, England, Finland and China

Philips

  • Category creation
  • Fast paced scale-up growth, simplified processes
  • Ecosystem leadership

Sauermann

  • PM org build
  • Portfolio simplification
  • Roadmap

A track record across consumer (B2C) and industrial hardware (B2B)

Across Nokia, Philips, and Sauermann, the common thread is the same: turning complex hardware and software ecosystems into focused, profitable, and well-run product organisations. Whether the end customer is a consumer or a business, the discipline is the same — clear strategy, rigorous execution, and a product team that knows how to ship.
